RECON for RESCUE will fund the equipment, sophisticated imaging software and training needed for SAR volunteers to be able to locate their subjects faster than ever and mitigate risk as the team executes ground or air rescue plans.  Air resources can be shared geographically, so this campaign can serve the region and ultimately help several SAR teams.

A 2025 campaign is underway to generate the RECON program at La Plata County SAR. The August “Nashville Songs and Stories” musical event, now in its 4th year in Durango, continues to be the primary fundraiser for their needs.

RELIABLE COMMUNICATIONS TECHNOLOGY

The volunteers of La Plata County Search and Rescue (LPCSAR) needed sophisticated 800 MHz radios to communicate on the front lines and with partner agencies.

RADIOS FOR RESCUE is a community-wide campaign that initially raised the necessary dollars to replace severely outdated equipment, and is now funding a 5-year rolling strategy to stay up-to-date on radio technology.

Other SAR teams around the region are welcome to leverage this program through SWSARF.
